2006 Glen Fiona Basket Press Syrah
Review: " Black plum color leads to a nose rich with white chocolate and black pepper aromas surrounding a core of dark fruit. Supple flavors of bright cherry and plum are lush on the attack, but are quickly followed by spicy tones of basil and toast. Tannins show up quickly, but add a frame to the fruit rather than overpower it. A bright and satisfying Syrah that would pair well with barbecued chicken. "

Review: " The best of Glen Fiona's current releases, this displays cool-climate varietal character, with mountain berry fruit, herb, spice, tar and a streak of licorice. "

Review: " Glen Fiona’s 2006 Syrah, Morrison Lane, proffers enticing aromas of smoked meat, game, lavender, baking spices, black cherry, and blueberry. On the palate it displays some elegance, good depth, spicy black and blue fruit flavors, enough structure to evolve for 2-3 years, and good balance. Drink this solid value from 2012 to 2018. "

Review: " This is a delicious Syrah from an artisan Washington producer. The wine features tasty blackberry fruit, subtle black spice and notes of tea and pepper. This would be ideal paired with duck breast, beef pot pie or lamb chops. "

Review: " Brilliant ruby red-violet hue. Blackberry, myrtle, vanilla bean and earth aromas. Medium-full, this has very good concentration and a finish with good persistence of ripe black fruit, lively acidity, polished tannins and a note of chocolate. "

Review: " Bacchus and Sagemoor fruit receive basket-press treatment that helped this label gain acclaim a decade ago when Rusty Figgins was the winemaker. An expressive nose includes bing cherries, huckleberries, dark chocolate, coffee and a hint of oak. Juicy black cherry flavors reign supreme, leading to bright tannins and a wonderful mouth feel with length that extends into Black Olives and anise. "

Review: " A dazzling blend of Rhone varieties including Syrah (50%), Grenache (15%), Viognier (15%), Cinsault (10%), and Counoise (10%) offers a rich mouth feel and juicy flavors of blackberries, raspberries and cherries, There is good oak at the beginning and balanced tannins at the end. The winery suggests that it's too young to drink, yet there's a lot to appreciate now. "

Review: " It will be difficult, if not impossible, to find a Walla Walla Valley Syrah at this price, and there's more to like when you get it home. Plenty of black fruit with Vanilla and Charred oak warms the senses, and there's delivery on the palate with blackberries and cherries, joined by some citrus to supply tartness amid plush and velvety structure that finishes in chocolate.
